Gold and silver answers from Makro
Each page answers one question Indian investors search: the live gold rate, whether to buy, which ETF is cheap versus its NAV, where a coin is below the 24K rate, what hedge funds hold, and which countries are adding reserves.
What is the live gold rate today in India?
The live gold rate today in India is the MCX gold futures price, quoted in rupees per 10 grams. Makro also shows the COMEX gold price in US dollars per troy ounce, the MCX silver rate in rupees per kilogram, and whether NSE, MCX, and COMEX are open. Prices on the free dashboard refresh about every 30 seconds while the exchanges are trading.
Should I buy gold today?
Makro publishes one AI sentiment report every morning at 8:00 AM IST. It gives gold and silver a score from 0 to 100, a bullish, neutral, or bearish bias, and separate notes for people who already hold metal and people who are deciding whether to buy. It is a premium feature. The free dashboard still shows the live price.
Which gold ETF in India is the better deal today?
A gold ETF deal is not the fund with the lowest rupee price. It is the fund trading closest to, or below, its indicative NAV, with a low expense ratio and enough AUM to trade. Makro compares 42+ gold and silver ETFs on NSE and flags the ones trading at a discount or premium to iNAV.
Where is gold cheaper than the market rate in India?
A gold deal is a coin or bar whose price per pure gram is below today's 24K reference rate. Makro ranks listings from Indian stores by that pure-gram rate, not by the sticker price. A heavier coin can look expensive and still be the cheaper rate per gram of pure gold.
What are hedge funds doing in gold and silver?
The CFTC Commitments of Traders report shows how large traders are positioned in gold and silver futures. Makro reads the weekly report and shows whether managed money, the hedge-fund group, is net long or net short, and how that changed from the prior week. Commercial hedgers are shown separately because they often sit on the other side of the hedge funds.
Which countries are buying gold, and what else moves the price?
Central banks report gold reserves in tonnes. Makro tracks the large holders and recent buyers, including the context Indian investors ask about for RBI and China. Next to that it shows COMEX warehouse stocks, London vault holdings, the dollar index, US yields, USD/INR, and the gold-silver ratio. Those are the inputs that move MCX even when no Indian headline changed.
